Aquamid is a non re-absorbable, lasting product for facial correction. Research has shown that the gel will stay in its place unchanged for at least 10 years and there is no reason to expect any changes after this period. The usual ageing of the skin will continue unfortunately but extra Aquamid can be injected as and when necessary.

Aquamid can be used to treat wrinkles (glabellar frowns, nasal labial folds, depressed corners of the mouth), lip augmentation, correction of acne scars, augmentation of chin, forehead or cheekbones, augmentation of depressed cheeks and other facial corrections.

After injecting:

• Avoid touching injection site for at least six hours, or using cosmetics on the site, for 24 hours after injection.
• Do not be exposed to extreme cold or hot for at least 4 weeks.
• Small risk of transient swelling and tenderness may occur near the treatment site within the first 1-2 days after treatment. If not caused by infection, these will be self-limiting and will resolve spontaneously within a couple of days.
• Rare event of infection at the injection site, contact the clinic immediately. The recommended treatment is an appropriate antibiotic.
• Corticosteroids are absolutely contraindicated in cases of suspected infection.
